WHAT TO EXPECT ON TEST DAY
If you’ve signed up for both the resting (RMR) and the exercise (VO2Max) test you’ll want to be ready for about 1 1/2 hours of measurement and testing. Make sure to wear loose comfortable clothing that is suitable for exercise.
Upon arrival we’ll take your height and weight and begin getting your baseline health information. After introduction we’ll do a body composition analysis including bio-electrical impedance analysis, caliper measurements, and circumferential measurements. Basically we’ll pull and pinch and measure to see where you're at.
After your fat analysis you’ll lay down and relax for 10-15 minutes while you do a resting metabolic test. This is where we find out how you burn calories. You’ll lay comfortably in a recliner and breath into the metabreather mouthpiece.
Once the resting test is completed, we'll move on to the exercise or VO2 Max test. This is where you hop on a treadmill, elliptical, or cycle and exercise through a set protocol which ramps up from light exercise to all out maximal effort. You will be in charge of this test and can end it at any time. The goal of this testing is to discover your fitness level and to see where and how you burn calories. From this analysis we can determine how you burn calories as fuel and at what heart rate ranges you should exercise to accomplish your goals.
The final step is to meet together and summarize your fitness level and formulate a plan to move forward to meet your goals. We’ll review all that has been measured that day and give you a plan of how much to eat and how to exercise to most effectively meet your goals. You’ll leave empowered to take the necessary steps to make the steps towards a healthier and fitter lifestyle.
